• Kaloji was a reflection of the people's aspirations in the history of Telangana literature: Dr. K. Srinivas, Former editor, Andhra Jyothi
Hyderabad, September 18, 2026: Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University organized Padma Vibhushan Kaloji Narayana Rao Memorial Lecture as part of 112th Birth anniversary on September 18, 2026 at its campus.
Prof.Ghanta Chakrapani Vice-Chancellor, BRAOU attended as the Chief Guest for the program. Prof.Chakrapani said that Kaloji was a great personality and towering figure in social life, who considered the problems of the people as his own and worked throughout his life for the betterment of society. He adopted the language spoken by ordinary people as his own and wrote in it, earning recognition as a people's poet. Kaloji's thoughts and writings continue to inspire contemporary society, through his writings, Kaloji stood by the people and instilled in them the courage to question injustice.
Dr.K.Srinivas, Eminent Journalist and Former Editor Andhra Jyothi Newspaper, was the keynote speaker and delivered the lecture on “Telangana Literature : The People's Struggle”. Dr.K.Srinivas said that Kaloji devoted his entire life to the development of society and remained committed to the principles he believed in until the end. Kaloji created social awareness through his writings, although progressive and reformist literary movements are recognised as important phases in modern Telugu literature, they did not emerge as dominant literary trends in Telangana. During the progressive literary movement, a large number of prose works, poems and songs were produced in Telangana. These writings reflected the political conditions, social inequalities, problems and struggles of the people in the region. The journey of Telangana literature was not merely a sequence of different literary movements, but a transformation in which literature became the voice of society, a mirror of people's lives and a tool for social change.
Prof.G.Pushpa Chakrapani, Director Academic BRAOU presided over the program. She said Kaloji stood in the front row among Telangana veterans, and reminded that during his life, he had the philosophy of Telangana language, Telangana accent and the separate state wood for Telangana. Dr.L.Vijaya Krishna Reddy, Registrar introduced about chief guest and spoke on the occasion. Prof. E. Sudha Rani, Prof. Rabindranath Solomon, OSD to VC; Prof. Pallavi Kabde, Prof. Rani Rajitha Madhuri, Prof. Rajani, Prof. P. Venkata Ramana; K. Prem Kumar and Dr. Yakesh Daida, all Directors, Deans, Heads of the branches, Teaching and Non-teaching Staff members and representatives of various service associations.
